Elope! - Anderson Island

Updated: Jun 2, 2023

“I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest (of your life) to start as soon as possible.”

– Harry, When Harry Met Sally

On a recent unseasonably warm and smoky October day, I was joined aboard S/V Solution by Destiny Alrik, an Elopement Photographer and owner of Black Salt Photography (Portland, OR). Along with her, Destiny brought her husband Therin (as "The Assistant").

A true photo shoot cannot exist without models of some form. Destiny invited a married couple by the names of Jeremiah and Angelica Rademacher. Jeremiah and Angelica are models for hire from Minnesota, now residing in Seattle with their 7 year old son Aiden. I really enjoyed getting to know them, and their story, throughout our adventure. They are both beautiful individuals, inside and out. Angelica can be found online through her website, The Plant Based Healer.

About a month and a half earlier, Destiny started this project in motion when she reached out to me with the idea to do a themed photo shoot aboard Solution, as the sun sets, to promote the idea of eloping aboard a sailboat, possibly to a small Island In The Sound. Me being of the opinion that everything about that idea sounded golden, immediately said yes to her proposal. Details were worked out, a date was set, and now the day was finally upon us. In all honesty, we could not have asked for a more perfect day and evening. Here we were on the 15th of October and the temperature was still pushing into the 70's. With that continued warm dry air, there were several wildfires burning in north-central Washington, and the smoky haze was brought our way with the northerly winds. It really created the most surreal backdrop to our sail / photo shoot.

Here's a sneak-peak at what resulted from this mystical encounter.

The Pitch

Thinking about popping the question soon, or are you all ready to run off and make things official?! There are many reasons why Anderson Island is the perfect getaway for such an occasion. Seclusion, yet not out in the middle of nowhere. Wildlife, but none that will eat you. We even have a General Store! Lodging is no problem here, as there are more than 200 vacation rentals on Anderson Island. Get married at sea, or just near it. Whatever your choice, know that we've got you covered.

Imagine... escaping to Anderson Island to make your union official, and then hopping aboard a classic sailing vessel to sail off into the sunset, either for the evening or for an adventure filled journey north to the San Juan Islands, or anywhere in between! What is imaginable is most definitely possible.

To begin discussing the possibilities, email me at CaptainCorey76@gmail.com or give me a call at (360) 489-7476. I look forward to talking with you soon, and sailing with you soon after!
